Hello book lovers!
I am Simon and I am driven to this forum by necessity.
Reading has been my go-to activity for as long as I learned how to read. I remeber in elementary, I'd have read my Reading textbook before the school year began. It only got worse from there as I would continue to read encyclopedias and almanacs and textbooks from our small library. When my cousin began lending me her books, my love for fiction began. From then on I would immerse myself in old and new literature from east and west, focusing mostly on prose and essays.
Now, twenty-odd years later, I have a reading list that I am afraid would have to outlive me as it only grows longer the more I learn about emerging authors and authors that have works that were deemed a must-read.
In the last few years, I concentrated on hard and soft sci-fi and fantasy works with a gentle sprinkle of a Stephen King or Tom Clancy just to mix it up a bit.
In my current job, there are only a few book readers that I can relate to. There is also little time to discuss anything with all the workload I have for the day. As reading and writing would occupy most of my free and downtimes, I knew that sharing this passion with people that I can relate to would help me cope with my stressful and somehow depressing lifestyle.
And so, I am hoping that I can find people in this forum that shares my enthusiasm with the scribbles. I have only scanned through a few of the posts but as far as I can tell I'm liking the site.
