I just finished reading 90 Minutes in Heaven by Don Piper. - a really gripping and compelling read! Its a true story about a man who met a terrible accident - an 18-wheeler ran over his car, crushing it. He was pronounced dead, went to heaven, and came back to life after 90 minutes. In those minutes he had a glimpse of heaven and all its glory which he says no words on earth can aptly describe. It was really a gripping read because no one has ever died and gone to heaven and lived again to talk about it.

After the accident comes a long and gruelling period of recovery for Don, and he talks about the miracles, pains, joys, and sacrifices and love he received from everyone around him. The writing style is really not remarkable - i found it repetitive and it didnt feel spontaneous. But Don's ordeal made him learn more about himself which in turn also made me ask myself about my own motivations in life. Its a true story about survival, too. Ive always loved books about the strength of the human spirit to live on even in difficult times (Life of Pi, The Old Man and Sea) but those are fiction and Don's experience was the real deal. He has been interviewed and appeared on tv many times to tell his story but I admit im still a bit skeptical. but whether or not his account is the true heaven, its a great read and a compelling testimony of the power of prayer too

Natapos ko rin sa wakas. Gruesome, not because of some gory scenes, but with what had happened to the characters. Now I know kung bakit yun ang decision ni Owen sa movie.

Nakakatuwa yung mga kuwento, magugustuhan ng mga mahilig sa WWII stories. Parang nagkuwento lang ang paborito mong lolo tungkol sa kanyang mga adventures nung panahon ng digmaan. At malinaw din na ayaw ni Vonnegut ng digmaan, ayon na rin sa dinanas nya nung naging POW sya sa Dresden, Germany na binomba ng Allied Forces..

I saw the English version of this movie and liked it. I'm planning to download the original Swedish movie. This is what a romantic vampire movie should be like. Complex and haunting. Hindi ni-reveal sa Hollywood version ng movie about the truth about Abby/Eli. Ewan ko lang sa Swedish version. I have to see.

It's a graphic novel set in a fictional place somewhere in the Middle East (timeline is unspecified). The story revolves around the complex and intimate relationship between Dodola and Cham/Zam. Subthemes include language (calligraphy), storytelling, religion, sex, and nature.

I also recommend his previous work, Blankets.

It must really be difficult to have a foretaste of heaven and then go back living here on earth with all the pain and suffering of life (yeah, with all the joys and loves too).

so i've finally gotten around to finish reading this book..i got held off for about a week coz i was busy...i have to say the series is getting better..this one has a feel of pirates of the caribbean teen edition..hehehe..it was a really fun read! i had a really good laugh in every chapter and every chapter title is a winner!!! i hope they will make a movie out of this one too!
