First time I encountered that reading a book is a CHORE. GRR Martin edited this book with Gardner Dozois while Neil Gaiman won an award for his short story here, reminiscent of a Twilight Zone story. A whopping 3 out of 5 rating. I meant "whopping" like a sucker punch.

i was curious enough to read this book about a dystopian society, where people are controlled and monitored by the government ensuring them a long and safe quality of life...Cassia just turned 17 and eligible to be matched through the tried and tested pooling match system of the society...she end up being matched initially to her best friend Xander yet when she went over the microchips containing data of her matched, another face of a boy was displayed for just a min. and she knew the boy and thus begins Cassia's awareness that their govt' is not perfect and not always right, that if given a choice and a chance at all there is a possibility of a different path, a diff. life that may not be perfect and safe like the one she had known her whole life...would she dare to break from the norm, risk her family's safety to be reunited with Ky an aberration, the boy she glimpsed on the monitor as her matched. there were other interesting concept in the story, like in the society only the approved 100 songs, poems, books, etc are being taught everything else is forbidden even writing down letters with pen is no longer practiced so the citizens in the society don't know how to write by pen only by encoding into the computer. cursive form of writing is considered the old ways...so the kind of dystopian world the author has created was interesting enough but not much action in the story because the characters are very much constrained w/c is understandable considering the controlling atmosphere of the setting. i might read the next book of the series.

Just read City of Bones by Cassandra Clare... Found it very entertaining, but still liked Hunger Games a lot more.

the sequel to the matched trilogy by ally condie..i like this book much better than the first one since the setting now varies..this time the characters are taken beyond the society and much more intense and of course after a lot of running and climbing(it was kind of exhausting reading about it even hehehe) cassia and ky got reunited...
