I have been living with written words as far as I could remember. For me, the world doesn’t seem right without written text, illustrations, and papers. I surround myself with the people and things I love--my family, my loved ones, our car, my books--and I say, what more could I ask for? Life is utterly simple yet sweet.
I made my blog, Simple Clockwork (http://www.nancycudis.com), in January 2010 with the sole purpose of sharing to my readers the simple joys in life--eating in a hole-in-the-wall eatery with your boyfriend, driving 100 kilometers at a speed of 30 kph with your girl-friends on a road trip, completing another chapter of your own book, or reading a good book that breaks you into tears--and imparting the note that happiness is a choice.
Eventually, with the amazing existence of the Internet, I found a community of book bloggers and, in the process, I found my niche. That doesn’t mean I won’t tackle other aspects that are not related to books. After all, Simple Clockwork, as the tagline goes, aims to sort out complexities in life, love, and books.
So far, I have been having a lot of fun and I don’t think I will be bored for a long time. Simple Clockwork is in itself a separate world--a fantasy land where I own my thoughts and my opinions do not go unheeded, where I meet fantastic bloggers with equally fantastic wonderlands, where the joys of reading and writing are shared and supported. It has been a great journey.
At Simple Clockwork, I cover the following genres in no particular order:
-Philippine Literature
-Classics
-Children's Literature
-Christian Fiction
-(clean) Romance
-General Fiction
-Short Stories
-Asian Literature
-Middle Grade Books
I rate my reviews with stars, five stars being the highest. But for me, stars are not enough to score a book, especially if it’s a masterpiece. This is why I always endeavor to provide an in-depth review and touch as many aspects of the story as I could.
I am also welcome to joint ventures with you. I have an existing partnership with Mel U of The Reading Life and we feature pre-war Filipino short stories twice a month. We started last month and it went out pretty well. Of course, the joint venture is not limited to the two of us. We always make it a point to invite other bloggers to join us.
I look forward to hearing from you so I could invite you to join me in my journey at Simple Clockwork.
All the best,
Nancy
