Hellooooooooooooooooooooo, everyone! I'm Deborah Nieto. But you can call me Debbie. =) Aimee invited me to sign up in your forum two weeks ago. (Has it been that long, Aimee? Sorry it took me some time before introducing myself and posting something here.) I love reading fiction, poetry, and well, nonfic too. Off the top of my head, here are some of the authors I loooooove: Eric Gamalinda, Nerisa del Carmen Guevara, Jerry Gracio, Neil Gaiman, Lois Lowry, Edgar Samar, Marjorie Evasco, J. Neil Garcia, John Ravenscroft, Franz Kakfa, Ray Bradbury, and, of course, Raymond Carver! =)
About two months ago, I was actually wondering how it would be like to be part of a book club. I pictured that it would be fun and so much more refreshing and lighter than the kind of environment I've been used to for several years--being in "workshops" and the like (not with the National Book Development Board, just to make things clear. =) ) Anyway, here I am and more than having the opportunity to share with Read Philippines NBDB's programs and upcoming events, I'm excited about getting immersed in your book discussions, (possibly) creating collaborations, and listening to your suggestions or ideas--particularly about helping more Filipinos develop better/stronger reading habits. =) Wow, sorry, ang haba ng intro. =))
Bottomline: Hi, everyone! I love looooove books and reading. And I'm thrilled to be here. =)
