INITIAL REACTION : BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!(From page 9 to 27)

Na read ko na ang initial first 27 pages courtesy of Malot :) super tawa ako ng tawa. I read it all out loud kasi gusto ko ma praktis ko yung tagalog ko. Yung narrations nya is a blast from the past. I can totally relate to my childhood days. The games, the fun snacks before! pati na yung chiclet. gusto ko yung red. We used to have a sari2x store till I finished college.
Sayang at bitin ako sa story kasi temporary lang ang copy ko. This is a very good choice so far for this month. I am glad i had a right hunch about this author. I really love her writing style. Behind the witty humors are harsh realities. Natuwa ako sa map legends it was something unique.

Naku patayin sa mens si Heldie! LOL! I'm curious too of what is your reaction to this book.

@Malot...how much pala ang book? na inggit ako sa copy mo. gusto ko din sana signed copy sa akin.hehehe. maybe someday.

Okay to follow Heldie's discussion for essay 1:

I did experience the "punas sa mukha ko para maging makinis ang balat ko" according to my late mother...pero before that she made me jump i think over 2-3 steps of stairs then run straight to the bathroom to do the above ritual it was awkward and eeeewwww for me..seriously!!!! so my mother took the panty and scrubbed it to my FEZZZZ!herself and I was like "maaaaaa! is this really necessary???" hahahaha! now i look back to it with great fondness :D

I had bad cramps my entire highschool. I was a frequent monthly visitor to my school clinic. The thing about consuming something maasim close to my period prove to be true. Mahilig kasi ako kumain ng indian mango with salt and suka after school.

I don't think i've ever played shake shake shampoo i don't know what that is. I have experienced shatong, patintero, chinese garter, hide & seek and kasing (or top is what it is termed~ i don't know in tagalog) and marbles. Gosh! i remember I had a huge collection of marbles before in different sizes and colors. And also exchanging stationaries coz i was girly like that he3x!

I think Bebs efforts to catch up with Colay were hilarious. I do know a lot about sibling rivalry. It was the bane of my existence right until my only younger sister reached college and decided to drop the spoiled brat attitude. Before that we used to fight about a lot of little useless things. And my mother used to always reprimand me that as the elder sister I need to be more understanding and be more patient with my sister. I did not want to be related to her at all at that time of my life...it was that bad. Thankfully it was a phase that we eventually outgrew overtime.

Hmmm...i wonder how Bebs will handle the attention of her new found admirer? There will be curiosity for sure but i think a lot of young girls back then are typically shy and pa crush2x lang and then passing of love notes or in your case Engr. a Dear Heaven~ yours HEL...char! ahahaha!

@Laila: I got my copy as a gift. SO it's for FREE!!! heheheh Well, I've been talking with Ms.Bebang on Facebook and she's really like that in her book. 4 of us (my friend, friend's friend, ms.bebang) are planning for a Meet&Greet on June. She's busy with her thesis and all. Hope and pray that it'll push through. Weheheh!!

I'm conniving with her to get her next book to have a digital format but she's tied up with Anvil and still waiting for the publisher's word about the sequel. (Ebook is still under negotiations in Anvil, actually, malayo pa daw magka ebook sila)

=========================================================================================================================

Well sagot sa next post ni laila. My mom urged me to jump too but I didnt coz even i was young, I am a very skeptical person. Ano koneksyon nun sa science ng katawan, di ba? hehehe!

Kasing is Trumpo in Tagalog.

Hmm in Ms.Bebang's essay she's 12 at that time. I'm at grade 6 back then at the age of 12. I confess, I had a crush when I was in Grade 4. Super cute kasi ng kaklase namin hahaha! But I didn't know that the "crush" thing-y is a big deal with adults. So I got a sermon about it for I dont know how long.

Just like Ms.Bebang experience with her paternal grannies, it was all the same as mine. Our family is an outcast. They treated us differently. Kung si Ms.Bebang chiclet ang kanya. Sa amin is leche flan. Others would eat a platito of it, but us would only have spoonful of that sweet dessert.

In a lighter note, I had fun reading the first part. Down in memory lane. hehehe

@ Malot...what do you think that chiclet meant for Ms. Bebang? it was something she wanted so badly that it is like a metaphor of what she thinks she deserves as well but that it can never be given to her so freely unlike with her cousins. She risked being caught for that chiclet. The way she described her experience in acquiring that chiclets and how it tasted in her mouth even after being punished for it. Like it was worth it pa rin.
