Curiosity about Bob Ong

I am just so curious about Bob Ong. I own all his books and have received so much SMS about quotes that apparently he had written (I say 'apparently' because I try to search all his books and I can't find the said quotes), but he remains a mystery.

Anyone who can share their thoughts about this? :)

Hi aizee! I didn't know you could get SMS messages of his 'quotes'. Where did you subscribe? I've read only his book Bakit Baligtad... But I admit knowing very little about him. Hmmm I think this deserves some research :D

Hi Wanda! Not that I've subscribed into his quotes, however you know how forwarded messages are :)
You should read his other books, especially the green one. :)

My friends have a hunch that Bob Ong is actually "many" authors. 'Bob Ong', we think, is just a pen name and several authors are writing books under that pseudonym. I've tried asking a Pinoy author about it (Sir Eros Atalia) but he was obviously evading anything that can reveal anything about Bob Ong. I've attended a Philippine literature seminar too, and the authors who attended the lecture did not breathe a word about Ong's real identity. However, when we observed the styles of other writers, we noticed that some of them are noticeably reminiscent of Ong's books. Maybe there's a reason why no one can pinpoint who Ong is, and that's the first hypothesis we can formulate. :) It turns out that it's a popular hunch, too. :)

Hi Airick! I also thought that was just a pseudonym for him derived from his defunct website which is 'Bobong Pinoy'. I've also heard that Sir Eros has been asked about his opinion about Bob Ong's identity and he vehemently denies having any relation to the said writer. His writing styles, for me, though are slightly similar than those with Bob's.

Which reminds me to add Eros Atalia's work named 'Ligo na u, Lapit na Me' to our list of books that have been turned to movies.

I'm still a fan, though. :)

I think those circulating Bob Ong quotes over text msgs and in some social networking sites are not truly his... just an opinion :|

Jun Cruz Reyes, author of "Tutubi, Tutubi, Wag Kang Magpahuli sa Mamang Salbahe" reminds me of Bob Ong, there are some similarities in their style of writing... :?:

I'm also curious about Bob Ong, though it's still okay for me not knowing his real identity. The mystery adds marketing value to his works. ;)

I met the representative of Visprint Publishers, the publisher of Bob Ong books, at the literary fest 2 weeks ago. She said that Bob Ong is just one person, though he prefers not to have a public life, just to himself. It wasnt planned to be that way but now it seems to be working for him :D
