After more than a week im still stuck at p 124..... I think im going to need a reading partner for this....anyone interested? Hehe

You're almost halfway through the book so I think that's a good thing. Have patience...

Argh! Deathwalker, nabasa mo na ba to? So what did you think of it?

It's a tragicomic novel with reference to the modern, Hispanic (Dominican Republic) history. The book itself is not easy to categorize (cross-genre?), since there's the fantasy element with belief in superstitions, family history, multiple narrative perspective, sci fi and pop culture references to describe Oscar's geekiness, coming-of-age (for most of the characters), lost loves, and lost lives. Amidst all the complexities of human relationships and struggles against tyranny, the final pursuit for love at any cost is still the best message of the book. If love is a curse (fuku), courage is the counter-curse (zafa). Courage they say, is always the last resort.

All geeks can easily relate with Oscar, including the hopeless romantics. But that's just me. It may be different for others.

But if you're halfway through the book, I think you can finish it. Kaya mo yan!

Finally finished! Thanks for the prodding! I really didn't care about Oscar. Instead it was Beli's and Abelard's story that struck me more. check out what i wrote here: http://wandafulworldofbooks.blogspot.co ... ao-by.html

The Power of Six by Pittacus Lore

Number Four, Six and Sam are on the run and the mogadorians are hot on their trail. Number four is next on the "chopping block" so I can't wait to finish the book.

The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson. Brandon Sanderson is such a talented fantasy writer. He is a relatively new writer but his works has consistently been included in the best fantasy lists. This is the first book in a planned 10 book series. Good thing. After the Wheel of Time finishes next year, I need a new fantasy series to latch on to.

Currently reading The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman. So far, it's okay and I plan to watch the movie after this. :)
