Hello! I just stumbled on this site because I was looking for a book club in the Philippines. I'm a 17-year-old Chemistry major who lives in Quezon City, but I've always had an interest in literature and I'm considering minoring in Creative Writing. The books I like can't be made to fit in one genre, but they tend to have nonlinear plots, fantastical elements, poetic prose, and drama (not too much, though!). My most recent favorites are Cloud Atlas (David Mitchell), The History of Love (Nicole Krauss), and Book Thief (Markus Zusak). I'm usually shy about posting on forums, but I hope I'll be able to contribute a lot to this one. Nice to meet all of you!
welcome firefly! non-linear plots hmmm. i'm not sure if these books qualify. norwegian wood by murakami. its mostly recollection. one hunred years of solitude by garcia marquez. its the story of how three generations of the buendia family and the town of macondo developed, progressed and declined.
welcome, and it's nice to have you here go lang sa balak mong magtake ng creative writing! nag-CW din ako sa college and it was fun dahil magbabasa na nga kayo ng stories, gagawa pa kayo ng sarili niyong stories at iwo-workshop ang mga gawa ninyo. marami kang matututunan I'm looking forward to your posts
