Hello,
I'm new here. I felt compelled to sign up here and find kindred spirits after I saw and read this article on a couple of blogs: http://philippinegenrestories.blogspot. ... overs.html

I hope this is not so for I'm filipina and I'm an avid book lover ever since I learnt how to read. I own quite a number of books and I would always choose to have a library (the Beauty and the Beast library is the stuff dreams are made of for book lovers) over a swimming pool, if I had to make a choice between these two, to have in my house - dream house.

There were a handful of smart, charming and funny Filipina ladies who not only read books but wrote (and in great measure, guilty pleasures such as Fanfiction) over on Livejournal. Unfortunately, Livejournal is almost quite dead :P At least the old rowdy members are quite gone, onto tumblr, pinterest, etc. they went.

One fact I will share with you today:
I'm filipina and can speak very good tagalog. But I speak perfect taglish, can read tagalog but can't string a compelling essay in one. Let alone, shamefully, spell certain tagalog words. And, I'm not familiar with deep tagalog. So, please take it easy on me :)

Nice to meet you all, and I hope to share the love of books with everyone here. And to prove that article wrong.

hiyeee jadefox! arjaye here.. i am a filipina, too! :) not currently living in the philippines, but hey, im always at home every other month or so..hihi!
i totally agree with lib over pool thing... but i love reading books by the beach or water for that matter.. so if i can, i prefer to have both.haha
i used to read in wattpad, but i dont know, i lost the knack for it.. maybe if i found another online reading sites, then ill pursue it.
i like the idea that i will write a story, or a book someday. but for now, read and read and read is my goal.
its nice meeting you here in readphil, and i do hope ull explore more and participate in our challenges. or just read with us, thats enough for me.
hope to hear from you soon! :)

Hello jadefox and welcome to RP!

well don't you worry about butchering your tagalog coz i'm from visayas and Tagalog is not our main dialect so imagine it's 50x more difficult for me. as much as possible i don't speak tagalog coz it sound foreign to my ears ...actually to most of us bisaya ahahahaha! the intonation is hard when we do try to speak in tagalog. i can probably express myself better in tagalog in written form.
anyways..YES TO THE LIBRARY...I WANT ONE IN MY HOUSE. i'm not really fond of spending that much time near a body of water anyway hehehe.
i handle the children and young adult section and i do a monthly YA reading challenge. and if you would be interested to expand ur reading interest in that area then do drop by in that section and check it out :)
i also use to lurk around other forums like livejournal but only because i do follow a few fanfic writers...i used to spend a lot of time over at fanfiction.net but then i concentrated more now on reading the YA genre, new adult and the adult contemporary books/series.
so we hope to hear more from you soon :)
