Hello Everyone, I'm Byron, an Assistant Professor here in Taft. Glad to know that there are plenty of bookworms like me in this forum and Booksale rats (most likely) as well :-)... I can't remember my first book (probably a Hardy Boys series) but the last one was Manuscript Found in Accra (not worth buying). Currently, my favorite author is Arturo PĂ©rez-Reverte (my last one was Captain Alatriste)... Kindly suggest one each for both fiction and non-fiction... Thanks...

My Top Ten Fictions so far:
1. The Girl with Dragon Tattoo (really really good)
2. The Alchemist (a familiar tale to spiritual seekers)
3. The Pelican Brief
4. Disclosure
5. The Fencing Master
6. The Day of the Jackal
7. Lord of the Rings Series
8. The Bourne Identify (series is good as well)
9. Bloodline
10. Clear and Present Danger

My Top Ten Non-Fictions so far:
1. Adventure of Faith (RSSB book)
2. Einstein: His Life and Universe
3. Thus Spoke Zarathustra
4. American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer
5. The Audacity of Hope
6. Born To Run
7. Von Braun: Dreamer of Space, Engineer of War
8. Inside Delta Force
9. Euclid's Window
10. Liberation of the Soul (RSSB book)

Hi Byron! Welcome to RP. Hope you'll have fun here.
From your favorite fiction books, I've only read The Alchemist.
OMG! I don't know what to recommend you.

I hope we get to see you here more often. If you have goodreads, feel free to me and us (most of us have goodreads).

Hi MissRed, I'm a little old school as like Clancy, Crichton, Ludlum, Grisham, and Sheldon. Even Dan Brown for me doesn't make the cut though his Da Vinci Code and Lost Symbol are okay... Oh by the way, The Kite Runner is tragically great!

Sure I'll come here more often... What's your favorite fiction and non-fiction/inspirational/philosophical book? I might have a look at them.

Hi Byron! I love it when you said that The Kite Runner is "tragically great". Just saying :) I'm presently reading John Irving's The World According to Garp, I'm not yet a fan, I'm trying my best to figure out if I will be. Did you like The Kite Runner so much that you also read A Thousand Splendid Suns and And the Mountains Echoed? I asked because Khaled Hosseini definitely had that effect on me...#athousandtimesover

Hi Chum. I love the Kite Runner but not yet ready for another Khaled Hosseini with the probable emotional thunderstorm. We do have A Thousand Splendid Suns in the DLSU library that I can borrow. Are the two books by Hosseini again have that tragic signature?

I'm currently reading Timothy Ferris' 4-Hour Workweek, he got me hooked with his 4-Hour Body. And by the way, Tim Ferris should be on my top 10 of non-fictions.

Hi Byron! Oh yes, both books have Khaled's signature melancholy and sadness. I'll try to look into that 4-hour workweek, sounds interesting...Happy reading :)

Hi Chum. Yes, Tim Ferriss' approach is efficiently unorthodox. Really interesting 8-)

Will check out A Thousand Splendid Suns soon.
