i can spend lots of hours in a bookstore looking through books after books that might catch my interest...in my experience its best to go alone if the bookstore is part of my itinerary of the day...most of my companions when i go to the malls don't have the patience to wait around for me...my hubby once told me next time to go on my own when he was forced to sit outside and wait for me to come out that he had to come back inside again and reminded me that i'm out with him....hehehehe.
also if there are movie adaptations of the book or if it came highly recommended by another reader or author's that i like.

Hi laila, i can definitely relate with you about the shopping bit....no sooner have we stepped into a bookstore my husband is already pulling my hand to get out....so i find myself so pressured to hurry. So now, when i want to take my own sweet time i just go on my own :D

PREQUELS and SEQUELS
if a book came out that is a prequel or sequel of a movie that I saw or a book that I have read... then the book will be on top of my reading list!!!!

Sometimes, it depends on my mood I guess. Like lately, I've been reading some Marquez and Sparks novels. hahaha!

But most of the time, I just pick a book at random and just start reading. ;-)

I usually go for short stories (collection or anthologies) but usually what needs to be reviewed (depending on what the publisher sends and what interests me)

I think in my case it would be best describe as what Paulo Coelho has mentioned on his blog & I quote: "I don’t always choose the books I read. They usually choose me, calling out to me from the shelf of a bookstore and I often buy them without knowing why. Each one always leaves me with something important, though."...and maybe, after this, it would be recommendations from RP members... :D

most of the time, i go with reviews mentioned, articles i've read, any other info that i somehow came upon and if that book is what is in front of me... buy it! in any other circumstance, im guilty to say book covers get to me, and if the summary at the back seems nice.

i usually look on the internet for the books that i should read, i spend hours just to decide if i have to put a title of a book in my list but sometimes if i have a lot of time and money i go to bookstores and spend my whole day looking for a good book and instantly buy it hahhahahaha

the synopsis at the back and if there are awards, citations, and stars on the cover . I'm gullible that way :o
