The Bourne Identity movie is totally different from the book. The book by Robert Ludlum is a good spy book.

The movie just took the character names and some events but the rest is a whole different story. First, Jason Bourne is not a real assassin as portrayed by the Movie. I wouldnt call it a modern adaptation coz the plot is really different.

I watched the Bourne supremacy (Part 2) and it kinda followed the 1st movie - meaning : its probably not related to the book. I scanned the first few pages of the Bourne Supremacy book and confirmed that the 2nd movie is not related to the book.

I have no issue with the movie. Its really good. Action packed and keeps you on the edge of your seat. i heard there will be one more Bourne movie next year.

Theres a Bourne Identity mini series which was released 1988. The 4 hour show portrayed the book very closely.

Hope I could start the Bourne Supremacy really soon.

Cool, i've never read any of the books, though I've seen a few of the movies...so was the movie more enjoyable than the book, or vise versa? and have you seen the mini-series? was it a good adaptation?

the Bourne Movie series is great !!! its really awesome... am gonna buy BD of these movies...

the book is awesome as well.. i enjoyed both... i just treat the movie as a different adventure of jason bourne...

the 1988 mini series is not an adaptation.. its the actual story of the book... they compressed the novel into a 4 hour movie... its good.. i liked it....

The Bourne Supremacy by Robert Ludlum

as in the first movie, the 2nd movie is also not a bit close to the book... but it is still awesome!!!!

wiki...........
The Bourne Supremacy is the second Jason Bourne novel written by Robert Ludlum, first published in 1986. It was the sequel to Ludlum's bestseller The Bourne Identity (1980) and precedes Ludlum's final Bourne novel, The Bourne Ultimatum (1990).

At the beginning, Bourne or David Webb, has recovered from most mental and all physical injuries and is teaching Asian studies at a university in Maine under his real name of David Webb. He is also living happily on campus with Marie and is getting regular psychological tests from his doctor, Morris Panov.

The story focused on a conspiracy whose outcome would have been a civil war between hongkong and china. The story was set during the time before hongkong was to be returned to China by the UK. Bourne was "forced" to go to hongkong (under threat of his wife's death) to put a stop to this conspiracy.

In the end, Bourne got his wife back and was able to end the threat in China.

What i remember and amazed me was that Bourne had a gun encounter inside Mao's tomb -similar to Marcos tomb. And from what I remember - Bourne made a big mess of Mao himself. Awesome!!!

This is a good read for Jason Bourne fans. The only thing is that the book or Robert ludlum books are a bit long. Maybe that was how things are done during that era (80s~90s) -- really long action packed novels. I do hope the Jason Bourne books by Eric Van Lustbader wont be that long. I do want to complete the Bourne series. I am hooked with Jason Bourne so I just have to suck it up.

Carlos the Jackal or Ilich Ramírez Sánchez - Bourne's mortal enemy. Jason Bourne was created to bring this person out of hiding and terminate him permanently.

I never actually taught that this character was based on a real person until he was recently mentioned in the TV series NIKITA. I thought "Why would NIKITA writers use a character from a book which they didn't own?"

After hearing his name, I immediately checked google and found that this person actually lived.

I also found that Carlos the Jackal was also used in many films and books.

This guy is famous !!!
