Hello Hello Hello again my RPerssss!!!
So I'm sorry it took me quite awhile to update my monthly challenge. Since nobody was able to complete the challenge last month so no winner but i know most of you have read a book or two by John Green so that's good enough for me. I usually read your reviews whenever you post them here.
Okay, my reading challenge for this month will be featuring a different kind of YA genre. I don't think it is very popular among the filipino reading community but this is my way of introducing one work from this author. May I introduce :
Title : Gone Gone Gone
Author : Hannah Moskowitz
Blurb :
In the wake of the post-9/11 sniper shootings, fragile love finds a stronghold in this intense, romantic novel from the author of Break and Invincible Summer.
It's a year after 9/11. Sniper shootings throughout the D.C. area have everyone on edge and trying to make sense of these random acts of violence. Meanwhile, Craig and Lio are just trying to make sense of their lives.
Craig Privett is crushing on quiet, distant Lio, and preoccupied with what it meant when Lio kissed him...and if he'll do it again...and if kissing Lio will help him finally get over his ex-boyfriend, Cody.
Lio feels most alive when he's with Craig. He forgets about his broken family, his dead brother, and the messed up world. But being with Craig means being vulnerable...and Lio will have to decide whether love is worth the risk.
This intense, romantic novel from the author of Break and Invincible Summer is a poignant look at what it is to feel needed, connected, and alive.
So as you have noticed our main characters are both boys and the nature of their relationship runs deeper than what the norm of the society is usually expecting from such kind of relations. I personally have not read it yet but it has been on my eshelf for quite sometime now hoping to find the right time to finally get into this. I wanted to expand my YA reading to the LGBT (Lesbian,Gay, Bisexual,Transexual and Transgender)genre and I think this will be a perfect start to that direction.
