Just a quick hello....

Hi all,

We are David and Sheila Quinio, collectively going by D.S. Quinio and we are happy to be a part of this forum! Just to quickly introduce ourselves, we are published Filipino authors residing in Toronto but we are here as book lovers... David reads different genres, ranging from crime fiction to action adventure novels, and I, Sheila, am a certified epic fantasy and paranormal bookworm, earning my laurels through consistent trips to the principal's office in my youth for always getting caught snooping on the wrong side of the library (restricted section-- Sci-fi, Fantasy and scary books meant for older kids only! =D). Both of us are fascinated with books, especially epic fantasy, as I'm sure other people are, simply because each of us have an inner child inside--rapturous over the next movie, game or book about a different world, magic, and lore that we can get our (excited and trembling) hands on.

Currently, David is reading Jeff Lindsay's Dexter series and I am on the last pages of Suzanne Collins' Catching Fire.

We are looking forward to interacting with each and everyone here!

David and Sheila

Hi laila_6045,

We're here mainly because we are voracious book devourers like many of the members here, lol! Personally, If social media's heyday was back in the 80's then I think I wouldn't have finished elementary because I would always want to be connected with bookworms like me and would thus see that as my first priority, no kidding! =D (What are you thinking Sheila, stop smiling, it's nothing to be proud of!!!) Anyway, the title of our debut novel is OMNIPRESENCE: The Rise of the Gatekeeper, it is the first book of a series called The Orbs of Power (check in our catalog if you could see it, the book is already there as 'Owned'). You may see more information on our website, DSQuinio.com, or our facebook author page (like us on facebook so you'll always be updated), https://facebook.com/D.S.Quinio or Twitter account @DSQuinio (we are already friends at Goodreads eh?). It was recently published but it will be available on Fully Booked soon, I've heard they already placed their order through their distributor. But for the meantime our readers are getting their copies online from Amazon, Barnes & Noble and other retailers across the globe, and as an e-book from Kobo.

Okay, so we promise to behave here on this forum, meaning NO SPAMMING on any discussion board, lol! (I have heard other authors do that, seriously... and as we speak right now they are within an inch from being pilloried!) We will be very active here on this forum as fellow bookworms, I guess it's short of saying that now we have found you (this forum) we will never let you go!

Sheila =D

Hi again..okay so i have followed you on FB and on twitter...i will try to get an ebook copy of your book i want to recommend this to my younger cousins. But who is the target market for this? middle school to 14+ age? anyways i'm way beyond YA bracket already but i still love that genre :) so i hope this one will be really good and I won't hesitate to pimp this one out to my fellow readers...hehehe!
you have angels and demons..good and evil...i'm not usually a fan of angels/nephilims pairing up with humans coz i have not many good reading experiences with that kind of premise before but this one sound very promising so i will give it a chance :)

Hi Laila,

It is an adult epic fantasy novel, and I mean adult in the real sense of the word. Think explicit, mature content in an action adventure read, so you might want to be careful in sharing this with your young cousins, depending on how young they are of course. ;) We did not hold back on being too graphic as far as the violent scenes are concerned because we would want the readers to justify why the fallen angel and his men should be vilified. Also, we do not have nephilims in this book, the main protagonist is a mere, ordinary human named Kyle who was thrown into a befuddling situation against his will, not knowing that he is more than what he knew himself to be. He is joined by a band of diverse individuals: the archangel who guards the Orb before it was stolen, Kyle's ladylove who happens to be an erudite from the other dimension, a shaman and his apprentice, a human teenager whose clan is at odds with the shaman's, and a blacksmith and his huntress wife.

The antagonists of course would be the Demon and his second in command, the black winged fallen angel named Nero. They are joined by Nero's admirals, a barbarian (whom we fashioned after the Tikbalangs of old), a conjurer, an infiltrator (who would play a bigger role in the series than imagined), and an insane, naked woman who happens to be a very cruel, unmerciful torturer.

There goes our character soup. :)

We would be posting a blog on another discussion board here meant for authors/novelists/writers (we found one while browsing, we hope our friends wouldn't mind if we discuss our novel). It would be about the characters on the book which our Filipino readers would be able to relate to.

By the way, thanks for following us!

Sheila

Shiela,
okay it's good to know it is not really age appropriate for my much younger cousins but i am rather excited about it na. Thanks for giving me a much better idea of who the characters are. I am more geared to books who have strong female lead characters actually hence "heroine YAaddict" yours truly hehehe . But if the male lead character is very engaging then i don't hesitate to root for that character, like i did with Percy Jackson in The Olympians series.
Pls. feel free to discuss your novel in the appropriate thread. I was thinking once your book will be available in the bookstores here in the Phils. I can suggest it as a Book of the Month as our reading assignment. As much as possible we do try to support our fellow filipino authors here. So far we have read and discussed one fantasy book by Karen Francisco "Naermyth" and i love it. It was right up in my alley :)
It is always my pleasure to meet and get to know and support talented writers like you guys because you make my world as a reader always colorful :D

Remember these names: Freija, Brunhild and Solinne. They are women, but forces to reckon with.

Just a warning though, Solinne is vicious. An absolute psychopath.

I will say no more. :)

Hi Jem!

Happy New Year, hope your celebration was great!

Sorry it took a while to respond, we are currently in the process of clashing horns as to where to take our characters next (well, sort of...). Kidding!

About our book, you may inquire at Fully Booked, they said they placed their order already but I'm not sure if the books are already there. Alternatively, some of our readers bought the book through special order at National Bookstore. Also, on a last note, to keep you up to date please follow us on Twitter @dsquinio and like us on facebook, link below.

Thanks for the warm welcome and it's so nice connecting with you! See you around! :D
