Hi Guys!

We are making this post after a long time to share some great news! We have just been invited by the National Book Development Board along with several other book clubs to join them for a Kapihan session. The objective is to introduce ourselves and discuss ideas on how to promote reading in the Philippines! The session will be held next week, Friday, March 21 from 5pm to 7pm, at the National Book Development Board Office in Quezon City.

While this is a bit of a short notice, we think it's a great opportunity for us to just let it pass! This will be our chance to introduce ourselves to the NBDB, who we are, what we do, and what we stand for - promoting reading in the Philippines. We will be delivering a short presentation (10-15 mins) about us and will include (but limited to) the ff points:

how we started, founding, current membership, etc.
    Who we are
    What we do
    RP site features
Ideas on how to promote reading in the Philippines

In line with this, we will need all the help / support any of our members can give to make our presentation success. If you have any ideas whatsoever, specially on the last point, please shoot us a quick message so we can include it in the presentation.

Everyone is invited to join us that day, too. We are planning to have an RP shirt made for everyone who will be attending so if you want to join please do reply to this thread or drop us a message that you will be joining, and because we also need to confirm number of seats with the NBDB. Shirt cost will be approx P350 each.

Here's the rough design of the shirt but still in the making:

Let us know! Looking forward to your support / attendance / ideas!

would love to join but unfortunately i cannot physically, outside the country presently. i would say, this is a good chance to interact with the members and other people outside RP. regarding on how to promote reading more... i would suggest we should really have one book to read and discuss per month. a must, in that way, if people are getting on reading slumps, they will at least have one book finished at the end of the month. one is better than nothing. :)

Hi Laila,

I was thinking would you like to start and lead a Cebu or Visayas chapter of Read Philippines? I'm thinking of adding a functionality that allows users to create their own Groups or clubs at the site. Examples would be a "Cebu Group" or "Visayas Group", or maybe a "Jane Austen Group" or "YA Lovers Group" The most likely candidate to use it would be you :) But only if you are interested, since the development of this will cost a little time and effort :)

Hello Admin :)
sorry it took awhile for me to reply here. I have been distracted with reading again and with Divergent of course. hmmm, i would be interested to start but I think i need more guidance about how to go about in starting this. As you know i am more active in the YA genre. So probably I would be inclined to handle a YA Lovers Group. If you could give me an idea what are the responsibilities i need to meet to make this endeavor happen :)
If we are to launch this Group site within the forum then i think summer is the perfect time coz the young adults of which majority are students are not that busy anymore with school.

As to the shirt. How much is the final cost? including the shipping fee? thanks!
This is an exciting year for sure :D
