Dreams of Gods and Monsters (Daughter of Smoke & Bone #3) by Laini Taylor
OH MY GODSTARS! what a fantastic way to end this series. Despite the usual bleak atmosphere, the agony of not being with the one your heart wants from the very beginning because the world is against your relationship it will create war or perhaps a new beginning. Laini weaves this magical world of Karou and Akiva and their love was devastating and beautiful at the same time. And I absolutely adore one of the best secondary characters I've read...Zuzana and Mik. Also shout out to Ziri and Liraz! HELLOOOO! what a sweet and very odd pairing that came as a surprise and yet somehow they make sense together too. Over all Akiva and Karou's long time dream of forever and hope for Eratz is finally on the road of mending. This finale gave me a lot of FEELS! Laini has an amazing imagination Laini's lyrical and poetical prose will reel your emotions in and never let you go.
Night of Cake & Puppets (Daughter of Smoke & Bones #2.5) a Novella by Laini Taylor
This is a short and very adorable and magical story of how the rabid fairy Zuzana finally caught the heart and attention of her long time object of affection the violin boy MIK I love it and I LOVE THEM
I light and funny YA story about a junior high school studen Natalie Rowan on the hunt to get answers about the mystery of the pysche of boys when it comes to girls and relationships. And to no longer feel fraud as Dr. Aphrodite in her school's love advice column when she has zero experience about love and relationships and most of all how boys think. So off she went on an undercover assignment going incognito as a boy in a preppy all boys private school. But things got complicated when she falls for her very very cute roommate Emilio This was nothing unique but it was a really fun read that I needed for a break from my current reads that were rather heavy and loaded with feels.
The Forever Song (Blood of Eden #3) by Julie Kagawa
I think I've said this before but I have to say it again: Julie Kagawa is a Master at writing stories. If you haven't read any of her books yet then drop everything and go get yourself a copy. You won't regret it. Full review to come... because I need to get my shiz together.
SCORCH TRIALS and DEATH CURE by James Dashner (THE MAZE RUNNER Trilogy)
SCORCH TRIALS was done a few days back. As ive mentioned in one of the threads , it gave a lasting headache before i actually started the 3rd installment. A lot of confusion and a lot of parties that i no longer knew who to trust, not to mention the new faces. The dark tunnel that they passed after the Flat trans with the silver metal head-eating ball, the wasteland and the lightnings, the Cranks, creepiest of the creepiest hello noses!, travel to the safe haven, running from the griever-like monsters, the Berg, and lots and lots of times that Thomas actually passed out---slept, gun-shot, gas chambered and who knows what other reasons, lives lost except for my most favorite people...im glad they made it! Oh well, that summarizes the 2nd book.
Then...
DEATH CURE closed its chapter few minutes ago and i had to scramble in this keypad of mine to say this that my head cannot help but to spin even tho i reached the conclusion. Green meadows didn't relax me or my imagination even just a bit. Had a slow start.. actually, most of the time, i wasn't up and running with Thomas unlike the other 2 books that always left me at the edges of my seat and always ready to bolt with them. This time, I just watch Thomas in my head as he went back and forth Wicked's HQ and Denver and Berg, and a lot of escaping and fighting with the Cranks. One scene that broke me down was when he had to say goodbye to one of his friend. He had to say goodbye to a lot in here, but this particular one had me in tears. My heart regained its thumping and fast beating at the last chapters. That was where the real action for me... because i missed the running, i actually enjoyed the last remaining parts. Same feelings i had when the first book was nearing its end also. Up to this minute, i can really say im a die hard of Thomas-Minho friendship club. With all their attitudes and banters, I still want to keep them both! <3 <3 <3
A YA contemporary. But this is my first time (I think) to read a novel that was written in verse format. It took a while to get used to it but over all a refreshing reading experience and although I am not as totally immersed with the story it is beautifully written and tough to execute. The story is much more deeper and heavier than you thought at first and this may appeal to a much younger bracket but in a way the author still gave the narrator a voice that will resonate with you and allows you to sympathize with Elly the main character. It is a story of falling in love, friendship, family, betrayal, loss and moving forward.
"I ride this elevator every day for hours, hoping you'll get on." ~Travis
"I stare at our hands, notice how there's no space, no gaps, just seamless unity and warmth and perfect comfort." ~ Elly
New Adult Romance contemporary. This is the story of Grant and Harlow. I have been looking forward to this. For the most part i was frustrated with how Grant handles his feelings for Harlow and it took a while but thankfully he listened to Rush and Blair's advice. He is too sexy and charming for Harlow's peace of mind. And he is unfortunately used to be involved with that nasty b*tch half sister of Harlow...NAN who is like a disease that cannot be cured. This one ended in a cliffy and not in a great situation. Over all their chemistry is off the chart. But Grant should have groveled more in my opinion.
Cherry Girl (Blackstone Affair #3.5) by Raine Miller
I end up loving this one. I love how the relationship between Neil and Elaina started as long time family friend. How he began calling her Cherry girl because of the color of her hair is like cherry. How as she grow up loving Neil secretly because of the age difference but everything changes when she turned 18 and found out her feelings were not so unrequited after all. But the blooming relationship got cut off abruptly when some people did some sinister manipulation causing hurt and misunderstanding that leads these two forcing to be apart from each other for years till Elaina's family decided to take the matters into their own hand and perhaps rediscover that love never went away and was just as strong as ever. Over all i really enjoyed this one and Neil was just swoon worthy the way he loves Elaina. Adult, some graphic sexual content, Contemporary romance.
