BLOOD PROMISE, Vampire Academy #4

oh yeah! feel kinda sad and torn like rose's feeling over this novel. lots of new characters, kinda miss the old ones, just saw bits and pieces of them. and the love play between her and dmitri is kinda giving me this kind of frustration and hope as well. but they are not on the same page, so hows that?! :( liking adrian but true first love never dies.

Just finished the final installment of the Divergent Trilogy!!! It was amazing! Better than the second book Insurgent. But it was just so sad =((( SPOILER ALERT: tris dies!!!!!! huhuhuhu I just wanna cry and it's so sad for tobias because they were suppose to survive everything together and live peacefully and happily in their own home but no... It just had to end this way =(( because of tris's good conscience and bravery to save her brother who betrayed her. And all my anger is just upon David!! who just had to shoot her several times even though she was clearly suffering already! Overall, the Allegiant is a good book. It makes you aware of discrimination and inequality and social classes. It just makes me angry to see that the GDs are treated like disposable experiments and the GPs like they're the real humans even though all of them got their own flaws and weaknesses!! GDs are not the only ones who make mistakes and they're definitely not damaged! GPs are not like God who is perfect and pure and has power over us all. This book just brings all your emotions out!

THE SKY IS EVERYWHERE by Jandy Nelson

Why these teens are killing me nowadays? im so eons away from that genre but i can still feel them. Still can relate to them. oh well, the heart is always young no matter what! :)

Back to the book.. Lennie and Toby. Big no. Lennie and Joe. Big yes.
At first i hardly got used to the way jandy writes. my orientation was tilting a bit towards confusion and waste of space. lots of words used that i believe no longer adds to arriving to the main points. it just confuses the readers. but while reading it, suddenly, i kind of got used to it. suddenly i am getting his point. suddenly, im laughing at the jokes, sympathizing with the characters, feeling the emotions. suddenly, i am no longer the confused reader, i became lennie, i became joe, esp. joe. i love his personality. i love the way he calls her John Lennon, so endearing. i love when he bats his eyelashes. bat, bat, bat.
i like the book as much as i like eleanor & park. you can really feel the love and bond.
youve got to read this book. youve got to see the bedroom by the forest. you gotta experience the kissing by the rain. you have to learn the pain in order to appreciate the pleasure. you got to feel the love they had, because they got it bad! :)

The Spectacular Now by Tim Tharp

Okay since this was adapted to a film to which i saw the trailer first that i discovered it was based on this book and so i have been curious about it coz i happen to like Shailene.
This story was being narrated from the pov of senior high school student Sutter Keely who is a very charismatic, fun loving, spontaneous dude and all around good buddy and is quite a smooth operator too. I did find his character very charming from the beginning and the author really gave him a very authentic voice of a teenager who have family issues and other teenage issues. But he is also a habitual drinker and while he enjoys his 7up with whisky (i think) immensely he doesn't classify himself as an alcoholic thinking that he is in control. But as the story progresses you realize that for all his charming ways and actually a kind heart he doesn't see himself clearly and has no plans for the future other than to relish his moments of spectacular now. I have hopes for Sutter but it was clear that he is going nowhere and i was frustrated about that. Over all it was a good reading experience i have no problem with the writing but this is not one of those stories with HEA. This is not centered on romance either it is i think about Sutter really, how subtly he was spiraling down he didn't even realize it. He has this philosophical approach in life yet in the end he is still stuck and unable or perhaps refuse to move forward like the rest of his school mates. He was easily the life of the party but at the back of my mind....such a waste :( and thus he began to lose his appeal to me.

just read the series as well! it really is SAD :'( but i guess it's not much of a surprise either. considering that they're in a war/revolution, lives will really be lost. unfortunately, including the protagonist's. it's just too realistic for my ideals and too bad because i got too attached to the story and characters (as always when i read). when i read the hunger games series, i was sad also because Prim Finnick and so many others died. but i would definitely prefer THG's ending over Divergent.

i find it hard to express my opinion to my friends because they're not done with the books yet and i don't want to spoil them (and some who were actually done reading do not have much to say), so i'm glad to have read your post! thank you!

Murder of Crows (The Others #2) by Anne Bishop

I love it! it is just as good as the first book. I love the dynamics among the paranormal creatures. And the conflicts of the Others with the humans keeps the atmosphere very tense. But the humans here are selfish creatures and tend to overstep their boundaries and made me root for the Others.
And most of all I adore Simon and Meg together...their friend zone arrangement and understanding was leaving them both confused as they didn't realize they are both falling for each other. It was understandable for they are both alien to such human emotions. Still i want something fluffy from this two. There is no cliffy but i can't wait for the next installment. 5/5 stars!
