To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han

YA contemporary. This is the first book I've read from this author. Her writing style appealed to me despite my issues with her main character. I do like that the story also focus on family relationships and the importance of it and the author really knows how teenage mind work, their insecurities, their crushes, their secrets, their angst, their moods and how self absorb they can be. Lara Jean is trying to deal how to confront her old crushes who suddenly received her goodbye love letters when she is over them. She has five old crushes in all, it was her habit to write them letters when she is getting over them but never sent them just kept them in her hat box. What happens next was not as predictable as you think.

I decided to read her works since she is coming to Manila and Cebu for a book signing event in June.

The Summer I Turned Pretty (Summer #1) by Jenny Han
~ I actually end up loving this one. I was in a mood of a summer romance and i like them quite heart breaking so yeah this one fit the bill.

It's Not Summer Without You (Summer #2) by Jenny Han
~ This one has quite a depressing mood and it's because of a loss of a loved one. The writing is still solid but now I find the main character annoying because of she is broken hearted as well and you know how teenage girls can be when it comes to love. They can be selfish and immature at times and it's no different with Isabel aka Belly. It is not always good to end up falling for two brothers. Conrad is her first love, it was an enduring kind of love. i just feel that it was not the right time for the two of them because Conrad has a lot of issues and anger inside of him.

We'll Always Have Summer (Summer #3) by Jenny Han
~ Angst and drama expected in this one. But also i was pissed off with Belly and Jeremiah who are obviously too young to make decision like getting married. HELLO! just because you are 18 or so doesn't mean you know already what's best for yourself. Seriously i was so annoyed how they were being so know it all about doing it just to validate their devotion for each other. But I already know they were not meant to be coz first love never dies in this case anyway. But again despite that, i really like Ms. Han's writing style but i wish i could read a better story from her. This one is certainly for the young adult and teen market.

Late Call (Call #1) by Emma Hart

~ Adult contemporary romance. Contains graphic intimate scenes. I find the premise intriguing. A high class call girl suddenly find herself being randomly hired as an escort by the one man she fell in love with at a young age of 17 one summer in Paris years ago. She is now 24 and what happens next is a lot of sexy chemistry and a whirl wind across the globe affair. It ended in such a cliffy so if you are into this kind of novels and doesn't like cliffy you better wait for the next book to come out first before starting on this one.

If you are in a mood for something ahem hot! hot! hot! read ;)

The One (The Selection #3) by Kiera Cass

The final book of the Selection series. Not really my fave series but I need to at least know how it ended and even though the outcome was fairly predictable there was enough tension and feels for me to actually enjoy this and read this one all in one afternoon. America the heroine is still not all that great for me but she has her moments in which she impressed me.

It all comes down to 4 Elites and one will be chosen by Prince Maxon to be his princess bride and soon his queen to rule the kingdom of Illea. Part of my theory on this one came out right and yeah there was a wedding :) The Book cover is so pretty and because I really enjoyed this one better than I expected I think i will get a physical copy of this for my collection :)

As usual, Clive Cussler dishes out his brand of action in this can't-put-down novel. NOw, where do I find his other books. Am going to complete his published works as part of my book trove...

TAKEN BY ERIN BOWMAN

another dystopian in nature. boys, walls, rebels, love triangle, forgeries. this reminded me of the maze runner, game of thrones, the hunger games and immortal rules. hows that? haha minor parts that i can relate to because it happened already in some of those dystopian books ive mentioned.
the premise is quite promising, and really gray is the hero but bree is the kick ass character here. :)

FROZEN (Taken #2) by Erin Bowman

Pilot will always be better than the rest. or i dont know, i just didnt like this one. it was dull and it lost its taste. it got me bored to the brink of death, save for the one detail that maybe will be the topic of its finale when Erin writes it down. Frozen just went out in the market 3 weeks ago, i cant even see it listed in the Goodreads yet.

STOLEN (Taken #0.5) by Erin Bowman

That is what im talking about! Eversince i met Bree... i rooted for her. Not for Gray or any love prospects for that matter. Its her personality that blew me away. Her strong, independent, scowling most of the time personality. And what did i get from the prequel? a lot of bree! and Lock.. and the chemistry between them. Their story was shortlived, but i felt it! And eventhough I have a very strong feeling that Bree is going to end up wit Gray...unless Ms. Erin Bowman changes the route on the final installment of the series. First love never dies! For me, Lock, was that first love for Bree! :)
I like this novella the most!

Sweet Reckoning (Sweet #3) by Wendy Higgins

The final book of the Sweet trilogy...Kaidan Rowe is just SMEXY!!!! he is the reason i decided to push thru in finishing this series. I will always have mixed feelings about Anna. As far as the nephilim/human pairing here I do like it, the premise is interesting and enough tension to keep me going. I am really sad though that PATTI didn't make it till the end. What the Dukes did to her was just brutal but she was the bravest of all characters, meeting her death with no fear but with complete faith in God. I can't say for the epic showdown that i was looking for between the niphilims and the Dukes. It wasn't quite i was expecting it to be. And Anna lacks that badassery that i was looking for when she finally wields that Sword of Righteousness. But still because of KAIDAN HOTTIE ROWE i can put this series down and say that was hot! HA!
