Bewitching Season (Leland Sisters #1)
by Marissa Doyle

I wanted to love Bewitching Season. I've been waiting to read this and when I finally bought it and read it...

I love the manners, the balls, the dresses and the courtesy well enough but they couldn't detract for the utter silliness of one Persephone Leland.

After reading several YA novels with whiny, entitled, childish characters, I was happy to get to know Lucy and Owen who are both smart, responsible, and kind of old-school with their choice of communication tool. Lucy’s rich but she’s not braggy; she’s actually simple and keeps to herself — an introvert like me. And Lucy and I share the same favorite city (Paris, although I haven’t been there) and same favorite spot in Paris (Point Zero in Notre Dame). Owen’s poor and broken (because of his mother’s death) but he’s resourceful, smart, and a very good son.

This book is about young love and travels, and the viability of long-distance relationships. It's a gem, something that doesn't just entertain but also touches your heart and mind.

I am looking forward to reading this one coz...heads up we will be seeing this author soon this year *wink wink* I only got to read her first book i think "The statistic probability of love at first sight".
Well if you love the city of Paris...then you will absolutely love Anna and the French Kiss (if you haven't read it pa) ...and there is a special scene there that involves POINT ZERO!

Just saw this. Anna and the French Kiss is the exact reason why I love Point Zero. Hehe
WHEN IS JENNIFER SMITH COMING?! Omg, I have to see her.

To Have and To Harm (Remedy #2) by Debra Doxer
Genre : YA paranormal romance
Rating: 4/5

Lucas Diesel...and Raeille is one lucky gal to have a boyfriend like him. Like seriously! The sequel to "To Keep you from Harm" and also the conclusion to this series. They were reunited again but it hasn't been easy for the both of them while being apart. And the manipulative cold estranged father of Ray was not exactly making things easy for them too. I have my frustrating moments about Ray being too giving that she can't see thru her dad's ruthless manipulation. But the Lucas moments makes up for it big time :)

Loving Mr. Daniels by Brittainy Cherry
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance
Rating : 4/5

A moving beautifully written story of a forbidden love, loss, death, forgiveness and Shakespeares. It was a very engaging story and this was a teacher/student romance but the age difference was not that wide about three years. Ashlyn was senior high school student who met Daniel Daniels her english teacher before the school started and had no idea he was her teacher. But something drawn them to each other the first time they met by mutual loss of a loved one. There was nothing sordid with how their relationship started for this was handled so achingly sad and beautiful at the same time by the author. Although there are phrases that were quite overdone to my taste it was bordering on being cheesy but overall a compelling story. And i cried for one character death that i did not see coming i was just so so SAD coz that character was uber awesome and such a waste of a young life who was too misunderstood :( but still GOLDEN GOLDEN :D

Marking Time by April White

At the beginning, all I could think of was motion. It was like an explosion in your face when you opened to the first chapter and you read that the heroine was on the run. And when you thought that that was it and she stopped running, she went and ran again. The strange thing was it felt like you were running with her. It was all motion.

Liv, Forever by Amy Talkington
Genre : YA, Paranormal romance
Rate : 2/5

If you do not have patience for whiny, self centered, mary sue female main character then don't bother reading this book. Liv is short for Olivia, a talented artist who got an art scholarship to a prestigious boarding school. And too bad she didn't get to enjoy school much coz a few weeks into school she was brutally murdered and now her ghostly self is wandering around the school trying to get someone to help her solve her death. I didn't like her so much before she was alive, i didn't like her even more when she is dead. Seriously this girl was just TSTL, Forever! The only reason i a giving this an extra 1 star is for the pov of other ghosts who were victims also to the secret dark and deadly tradition of a secret society behind the prestigious Wickham Boarding School. To be honest not much school activities i've read that Liv was doing except she was always busy at her art studio and nothing else.

Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira
Genre : YA contemporary, family drama, romance
Rating : 2.5/5

I was hoping to be deeply moved by this book but it did not meet my expectations. It was just generally sad through out the book coz the MC Laurel was struggling to cope with the recent loss of her beloved older sister May. The story was narrated in a form of series of letter written by Laurel that were addressed to famous dead people mostly artists. She started it as an assignment given by her english teacher. This is more like a diary only you don't address it as Dear Diary. I cannot connect with the character or her angst about certain dead people. However, there are certain aspect about her family problems that i can personally sympathize but not enough for me to really like Laurel's character...simply because i felt that she has no personality whatsover of her own right off from the beginning. All she was like i wanna be the next May or whatever. I cared more of the other characters like her new found friends Natalie and Hannah who were dealing their own personal problem of being out about their love for one another then there are the seniors Tristan and Kristen who loved each other very much but whose college plans will tear them apart. Also i love that it mentioned a poem by e.e. cummings which i love.

Lichgates by S.M. Boyce
4/5

Huh. I didn't expect to like Lichgates. It has been with me for so long that I didn't remember I had it. But I had and I read it out of - well, not out of curiosity but it caught my attention the other day and actually added it to my book queue for the week.

I liked the world of Ourea and its differing kingdoms which didn't limit themselves to elves, trolls, and goblins. In fact, I think they weren't mentioned at all. Ourea was governed by a whole new mythology, new people who didn't look like humans - blue skin, green blood, long limbs. I liked it.

I liked Kara. She just dived into this pocket world, accepted her fate (I hear Rick O'Connell somewhere shout: "'No harm ever came from reading a book.' Remember how that one went?") and went to try and carve her own destiny. She got guts.

No romance, yet, but there were hints such as looks, arms-brushing, but it wasn't really central to the story, yet.
