hi wanda! its been a while...i have received your regular blog in my email about ur latest read. this one is just mind boggling. i just want to say "I'm at awe of you" for this "hollow block" of a book. i can't imagine reading through that endless story with so many characters and i'm not much of a fan of King's works coz i've seen most of his movie adaptation of his earlier works and gives me the creeps esp. "IT" gave me nightmares as a kid. But i have to say he is rather good at this genre but just not my thing.

Just finished Inkspell by Cornelia Funke. This is a richly imagined sequel to Inkheart, just like Hogwarts in Harry Potter. It is brought to life w castles, artists, etc. Cobblers alley is like diagon alley, and Silvertongue is like 'parceltongue'

The book has well developed leading characters but i found the plot written too long, the pace too slow, w long drawn-out descriptions. It had too many characters that sometimes its hard to follow and delineate, not to mention a lot of unecessary scenes.

Sometimes i found it hard to follow the progress bec it was lacking in appropriate transitions or segues. I.e. Suddenly one of the characters you didnt know was in the scene says something and you think, huh, did i miss something?  Or could it gave been 'lost in translation' from the original german???

But towards the end i think the pace picked up and ends hanging, making me want to get my hands onto book 3 asap.

I'll repost my goodreads.com review here.

First: i was curious when i read the summary of this book and thought. "why not read something different?".

As the story reveals itself, i got curious even more. This book is thought-provoking especially now how the world spins about the sexuality of a person. This book offers more than that. It delved about spirituality, social opinions, and more. I like how the author ended her novel. It made me ponder "who and what and how i really am as me living in this world."

What defines a person? How do circumstances mold a human being?

Nice plot to work on.

I just finished reading "The Vampire Lestat"- the 2nd book of Vampire Chronicles series by Anne Rice....Sana this is the one made into movie after "Interview with the Vampire" not the "Queen of the Damned(Book3)". But still I love this series and at last I already completed buying all the book series... Love it! :)

Yes you are right Memnoch26, the 4th book will be made into a movie but i think the planning is still on going based on the announcement from Anne Rice in facebook. :) I'm currently reading the 4th book now. Let me guess "Memnoch26" is based from the 5th book "Memnoch the Devil" right? hehehehe.
