Well said malot. ya i know how you felt, first chapters you have to really encourage yourself in reading the book (in your case i'm the one who encouraged you hehe)..but when the story picked up you have to set aside your priorities , other books to lay down.

What i like in this GRRM masterpiece, its the story, its unpredictable, honestly all of the twists, i didn't saw it coming, am i just slow or he's just plain genius. He introduced so many characters, laid so many stories, but all of it they are somewhat related to each other. In a euclidian math concept, two parallel lines that goes independently with each other will somewhat meet at a certain point, by euclid it meets just like in railways...i wonder how will Mr. Martin make all these lines meet.. Daenerys is now at very far side of the lines, but im sure, it will definitely meet and stir the other lines at a certain time....im really excited for this...

Book 2 na...game on

The writing style was good and no lenghty narrations that will bore you to death. At first, I was taken aback with the flow of the story. But as I go on reading it, I was more compelled to read more and nibble every word of it. It is different from LOTR. The story was laid out nearly as much as possible with reality with a little touch of magic. Every character has his/her own strengths and weaknesses. You will love and hate them at the same time. You can relate with one of the characters and root for him/her. It tackles about the politics of the realm; being true to your words; about love.

Family.Duty.Honor.

Those are important and must be upheld for WINTER IS COMING.

You really nailed it, Heldervert. My words are not enough to express my thoughts and feelings for this book.

There's too much going on but it is not a clutter. Every piece has its importance in the story and the curiosity takes you make a step much farther.

Since nauna ka ng nagbabasa ng Book 2, you will be my guide again. Hahahaha!

"Do the Work" and "The War of Art" by Steven Pressfield

Absolutely love his views on writing and doing the work more than anything else. Very practical advice, and very close to Stephen King's view in "On Writing" as well. I'd have to agree with them, that most success comes mostly from sitting down every day and getting your writing done. Nothing beats hard work and dedication :)
