The Lost Girl by Sangu Mandanna

The premise of the story is where clones exist. Legal in some parts of the world and illegal in some too. I haven't read the Frankenstein novel yet so I won't be able to make a comparison.

These human clones were made in Frankie's way. They are viewed differently in the society and referred to as "it". Because the makers of clones called as "Weavers" made them only as a vessel or a spare body of someone who is the original. The clones called as "echoes" were made to live the life of their originals. They have to be an exact copy of the original human.

Thoughts that hovered in my head were what it takes to be called as human? Am I an echo of my old self now but living in a different way? Trying to somehow live like I was used to be so that my "familiars" won't be disappointed in me?

The story is neutral-paced as like you are watching a movie. The plot was laid out evenly. The ending was okay but still with loose ends. It gives more space to have a sequel maybe. I consider this a juvenile version of suspense-thriller novels like Bourne or some usual movie that has the same plot.

Interesting but not that entertaining for me. Still has a lot of room to expand the author's story, therefore, I give it 4 stars.

Finally i'm done..

thank you lai for the..you know what...

4 out of 5 stars (this means its really good, note: i only rate 3, 4 or 5, i don't give less than that)

Actually i have the same opinion as Malot, the ending is not that great. Or i have just expected much from it because from the first page until 90% of it, the scenes, the revelations and everything is perfect.

But its still a very good read. Fresh. Entertaining.

I laughed and I cried but in the end, I chose to see. A must-read for the one who's looking for an evidence to believe in God's grace and goodness :)

Ive just finished this book months ago and it left some nostalgic sense of what the future or past maybe like what couldve happened or dreams unachieved or regrets thats been left unsaid. This book is about love, music and just friendship- being high, being out there. I really love this book, and I recommend that if you read this book listen to- F.U.N , Foster the People and Two Door Cinema Club. This book is like a bible for the hipster kind of indie crowd :) peace <3

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

"A way to be good again..."

This is a good novel. It was written perfectly.

The plot and events were evenly placed and told perfectly in balance. The author was able to tell his story from beginning to end with no feelings of being short in every element. He was able to introduce all main characters clearly and all of them had a strong foundation.

Questions like who, what, when, where, and why were answered in 371 pages. It was written meticulously and I didn't feel empty-handed when I finished it.

Khaled Hosseini was able to depict Afghanistan's rich culture and life in this book. I've learned something about them in a short while.

The book dealt about love, honor, guilt, fear, and especially redemption. How do we atone for our sins? Our mistakes? Our wrongdoings to other people? Saying I'm sorry is good but it is more apt to say "I'm sorry and how can I make it right?"

This book is about Amir and Hassan, a master and a servant, respectively. Hassan is the kite runner. The one who runs for a kite that went down after a kite fight. Life came into a full circle when secrets were revealed.

Great story, well-written, complete elements. 5 stars.

wow Malot, I truly agree with you :) I've just finished The Kite Runner too and you've expressed well what was in my head that i couldn't put to words! The Kite Runner is really well written. The author was able to tell everything the reader needed to know in quite a short book, but still it does not feel overloaded or too fast-paced. Okay, I'm just repeating what you were saying :) haha. And really this book has a lot of lessons that can be picked up from it, not just about reconciliation (which is a very important theme in this book) but also about equality vs recial and social segregation as well.

Bitterblue by Kristine Cashore...nobody can beat the badass that is Katsa in Graceling. This book is supposed to be the sequel to Graceling. And i'm a bit disappointed with the whole medieval drama. Queen Bitterblue left me bitter and blue *woe me* but the reappearance of Po and Katsa even though they are around just to save the Lady Queen's "behind" most of the time makes up for it.
