With my not so normal work life, it has been a while since I've finished reading something.
Despite the tragedy that has befallen the Romanov Dynasty, the story of Nicky and Alix continues to intrigue readers around the world. That includes me.
How they managed to be a monarchical family where deep love and affection have been fostered remains exemplary. Nicholas II and Alexandra Fedorovna may have been regarded as the Tsar and Tsarina who had brought the Russian Empire to its end but they will always be looked up to as the couple who will beat all odds for love and for their children.
This book made me so emotional that it took me days to recover from the joy and pain of reading it. I applaud Massie for his work and I'm looking forward to read its sequel. I should be much more emotionally ready for it though.
