With my not so normal work life, it has been a while since I've finished reading something. :D

Despite the tragedy that has befallen the Romanov Dynasty, the story of Nicky and Alix continues to intrigue readers around the world. That includes me. :D How they managed to be a monarchical family where deep love and affection have been fostered remains exemplary. Nicholas II and Alexandra Fedorovna may have been regarded as the Tsar and Tsarina who had brought the Russian Empire to its end but they will always be looked up to as the couple who will beat all odds for love and for their children.

This book made me so emotional that it took me days to recover from the joy and pain of reading it. I applaud Massie for his work and I'm looking forward to read its sequel. I should be much more emotionally ready for it though.

I've watched the documentary of the Romanovs on NatGeo, about the end of their reign its all so tragic coz indeed this family maybe royalty at its finest but they were a family who loved each other. I think if Nicholas II wasn't pushed to take on the throne after the untimely demise of his father, he and Alexandra would have flourished peacefully. It was very rare in their station and at that time to be able to marry for love. I was so sad of how it ended for their family...like ang sayang :(

I've watched that too! It actually raised my interest in the Romanovs :)

There are so many what-ifs that may have led to the family's salvation. But things had to happen... and it's really heartbreaking. :( There were rescue attempts but no one proved successful. Their last days at Ekaterinburg haunted me for days, particularly the last moments they have hung on to life. It was a nightmare but I would like to think that after the massacre, they could be in a much peaceful place... forever.

Because there's nothing like a witty and sarcastic book "gently" telling me about things I already know and things I've unfortunately forgotten.

Have finished reading this days ago but I still find it hard to describe. The story is quite simple if you think about it. Nothing extraordinary about the characters maybe except Midori and Storm Trooper. I guess one thing I liked about it is even though the story is written in the perspective of the main character, Toru, there were no heroes or villains in his eyes. Each character I can either emphatize or understand. There's a lot of sadness and longing in this one. Some light moments. Some quotable quotes. And if anyone else ever reads this book, that's how it ends. You book isn't missing pages. :)

To Distraction by Stephanie Laurens (Bastion Club #5) historical romance...Deverell 7th Viscount of Paignton is set out to seduce Lady Phoebe Malleson to be his bride. Not my kind of heroine though so only gave this a 3.5 stars out of 5. Dalziel who are you really??? my guess is that you are a member of the British royalty or a Duke of some sort.

The Fault in Our Stars...What can i say? Part funny, part sloppy, part brilliant, part dragging. At first, I thought I was reading Bob Ong in English. It was that funny for me. But in John Green's world teenagers are wittier than parents and they quote Shakespeare. I would sure have loved to have friends like that in my teens, but sorry teens of today that seems as real as glittering vampires. There was a note in the beginning of the book that says all characters are fictional. It was unnecessary for me as all characters felt unreal. It also has a part for me that felt like it was trivializing cancer. It didn't sound as painful as it should. Somewhere towards the end, Green recovered and created some brilliant ideas and prose. When one of the characters died I felt like, what else could still happen. There are more chapters. It felt like a drag at that point.

Overall, its still a good read for the funny parts and the brilliant parts. But I get it now why John Green is in the Juvenile section.
