Thanks for sharing! I see this not really an attack on Stephen King but more of a description about the two factions in the world of reading. Matagal na kasi ang issue between Stephen King and Harold Bloom, similar to the slight hostility between genre/pop readers and literature/non genre readers.

I enjoyed Stephen King's Thinner, The Dark Tower 1: The Gunslinger, and his non fiction On Writing (maganda ang book na to, lalo na yung personal stories ng author) but I wont consider myself a Stephen King fan, I need to read more of his books to be certain. Reading Mr Dwight Allen's criticism is just an eye opener that there is indeed a gap between genre and literature readers. It reminds me also of a certain popular and ongoing series, very much hyped and designed for the current genre complete with the film adaptation not realized by many that the series was written by a group of unnamed and unaccredited authors---ghost written in short.

Sabi nga nila, "choose your own poison." Ang masasabi ko naman, walang basagan ng trip, kung ayaw ko sa gusto mo, wag pilitin. ;)

The writer, though, isn't Harold Bloom, and the problems described in the article involve more than a gap between one type of writing and another.
