A compelling story about two African-American women who work as household helps during the 60s and the white woman who wanted to make a difference, The Help is an international bestseller that sat in the Los Angeles Times bestseller list for a full year, and the New York Times bestseller list for half a year. It has since been published in 35 countries and three languages, and the film adaption by Dreamworks will be released this month.

I read this book and had a new-found appreciation for all the household helpers out there.

I read The Help a few months ago-it is a very good look at life in the deep American south -it has some flaws-such as why do the black women speak in diaclect and the white women (who would have spoken a regional version of English) not-I would like to see the movie
