.. i have finally seen the Battle Royale movie...

since the release of the book is about 8 years after the movie.. we can assume that Suzanne Collins may have ripped off the idea from it...

..can we do that? write a book using an idea from a movie? not that am saying that Suzanne Collins did it.... is there some legal implications if we do something like that?

malot1182 wrote:I've seen the Battle Royale movie. Yes, tama nga si conan_barbero. Mukhang dun nga nakuha ni Suzanne Collins yung idea/inspiration for writing Hunger Games. Kung napanood nyo yung Death Note movie (real actors) sya yung lead actor sa Battle Royale.

You better watch it and see kung paano napaganda ni Collins yung concept. Hindi ko pa rin nababasa yung Mockingjay. Pinapa-excite ko pa sarili ko for the ending hahahha!

Hmm concept lang naman ang kinuha ni Collins from Battle Royale pero iniba nya ikot ng story. Parang iisang plot lang tulad ng ibang romance novels pero iniba ang mga details and mas pinalawak pa yung ibang parts ng story. So I think walang illegal sa ginawa ni collins. =)

hmm.. maybe you're right..

maybe thats why theres no news of any lawsuit against Collins..

or maybe the lawsuit news is in Japanese so we just couldn't google it... hahaha

I've watched battle royale the movie. I know there was even a sequel to it. I can't say for sure if it's a rip-off exactly, but the two are very similar. The thing about Battle Royale, though, is that it's more focused on the blood and gore part rather than the drama of Hunger Games.

I'd watched Battle Royale way back in high school, and so grabbed the Hunger Games when I heard it resembled the movie. I have to say though, I was a bit disappointed in the second and third book. It could've been done better, if you ask me. The first, on the other hand, was great! Had a lot of good tension in it.

... you are right.. Battle Royal didn't focus on the life, politics and culture of the people of that time... it focused more on the killings...
