Things like this happen, any award-giving body is not free from politics of lobbying. Imagine Carlo Caparas (God have mercy!) earning the National Artist award for Visual Arts way ahead of the late Francisco Coching---the Dean of Philippine Comics whose portraits and artworks were already featured in our local postage stamps. Coching is yet to be recognized by our "scholarly" judges. This is also similar to Rob Liefeld earning the Lifetime Achievement award before Will Eisner and Jack Kirby in the US. Money talks.
