I loved this book! I highly recommended it for readers who are interested in Jose Rizal as a person, as a man of his country and as a man of Spain. I liked how Austin Coates personified Rizal's character. It was, for me, unbiased and realistic. Despite the hundred year difference, Coates was able to relate an era so far beyond ours to any present time reader. It felt like being transported physically to the Spanish era while being able to witness all that Rizal felt and experienced. I knoooow it's kinda crazy but the experience with this book is surreal! I really got to appreciate him and the ideologies he formed since he was in primary school. Anyone who reads this will understand the kind of individuality Rizal possesses and how he was able to keep intact what he thought was best for his country and his countrymen. I guarantee that after one reads this book, you'll be wanting to read it again and take note of everything interesting your eyes come across with.
