Borders MAY yet survive if a bidder emerges

Postby bossjun » July 21st, 2011, 11:25 pm

I found this interesting article about Borders bookstore in the US which filed for bankruptcy last February. If a bidder emerges before the end of the month the company can still keep in business.

http://blogs.wsj.com/deals/2011/06/20/borders-eyes-bankruptcy-sale-in-july-or-else/

Such a shame for this to happen to a supposedly giant bookseller, and to think that a larger percentage of Americans than Filipinos read supposedly. I hope it doesnt happen to any of our bookstores here!

Yes, sad talaga! have you been to any of the Borders stores? I've been to the one in Singapore, Orchard Road. But they say the stores in Asia are separately owned from the stores in the US. So if I understand it right, the ones in Asia should still be open...

Well, that’s a bit of good news…

I have been to that BORDERS in Singapore. Its ok. Its good. I have also gone through all the BORDERS in Dubai. They have BORDERS in most of their malls/City Centers. You can also make an order without any delivery fee.

But KINOKUNIYA is really my ALL TIME FAVORITE.

There is one in Singapore and its really AWESOME. It’s like HEAVEN for book lovers. I almost cried when I was there. It’s so huge that all the good books you can find in the AMAZON website (or maybe a good portion of it) is there on their shelves. You probably need the whole day to go through their shelves. I spent only a few hours there and I really got a headache after going there. I bought a lot of books that time and since then, I started collecting books. I owe KINOKUNIYA my book hobby.

They also have one in Dubai mall. Its bigger and have more space than the Singapore store.

Comparing the prices, KINOKUNIYA sells books at lower prices compared to BORDERS.
