Infinityglass (Hourglass #3) by Myra McEntire...so it took me awhile to finished with this one coz i stopped almost halfway thru coz it was a rather slow start for me and i was catching up with who is who...but once i picked it up again it gets better and Dune turned out to be one of those really big silent guys ( he is Samoan & geek smart!) but really really sweet and protective and he had me swooning and it left our sassy heroine Hallie frustrated most of the time because he was too much of a gentleman for her taste no matter how much she tries to push his buttons! lol! I like the concept of the rips from the past that are colliding with the present world and how they affect Hallie who is the Hourglass! The setting took place in New Orleans so i kinda like the vibe of the atmosphere. Kaleb & Lily remains to be my most fave pair in this series then Dune & Hallie
I categorize this novel as a "nosebleed" book. Pinasadahan ko ulit ito still hindi ko pa din magets the second time around. Maybe its just me. The style of prose is not to my liking. Don't get me wrong but this is a critically acclaim novel. This is the kind of book that its best to be an american to appreciate. I had the same feeling when i finished reading BREATHING LESSONS by Anne Tyler (Pulitzer Prize 1989). Its like watching one of those Oscar's best picture and in the end you'll say "yun lang yun!?".
I was forced to read this novel because its the first installment of the four Rabbit series. The last two of the Rabbit series won the Pulitzer prize (1982 and 1991).
Eyes Wide Open (The Blackstone Affair #3) by Raine Miller...predictable yet full of catalysmic orgasm it's mind boggling. lol! but because Ethan James Blackstone is the man i gave it a 3.5 stars. I think there is another installment after this but i don't think i will looking forward for that one. The fairy tale conclusion is enough to just stop here.
Allegiant (Divergent #3) by Veronica Roth...like the other readers who have read it first it did not end well indeed...but those who survived tried their best to move forward and honor the memory of the people that they love and care and I will also move on to other series but with my heart still aching from this finale. I was feeling kinda numb when that "moment" came in the story and I was simply sitting there staring at my tablet and whispered "OMG" like a bunch of times and then said to myself this is it...Nothing will change of how their fate will end and all i could do is accept it and appreciate the great things about that character because that is how I want to remember that character. It was not Faction before Blood nor Blood before Faction...LOVE before Faction, always. And for that Tris made a life changing choice, her love full of courage. However, I will always love Book 1& 2 the best. There is no HEA here people if you want me to be upfront about that.
THE STONE DIARIES by Carol Shields. 1995 Pulitzer prize winner for fiction.
This is an authobiographical fiction novel of Daisy Goodwill Flett that spans from her birth to her death (1905-1990). As most authobiographies its an easy read and entertaining. It has a large cast (around 20) pero d sya nakakalito basahin.
Theres an Introduction by a novelist(not the author) that analyzes the book (style of writing, structure,etc..) that is quite helpful in appreciating the book.
The Godwulf Manuscript by Robert B. Parker published 1973.
This is a fun read book. (A breather to the heavy books that am having difficulty finishing). One of those 3 hour listening book that you can do something else at the same time without missing a beat. This is the very first installment of the Spencer series. (Adapted to tv in the 80's ito). Its about a wise-crack, astig with a heart private sleuth. The book is full of witty dialogues as in all of the series.
I always pay special attention to the food he eats, cook and drink. I noticed that on every series the author writes about food often...and cooking (nakakagutom). One time while listening to The wind- up bird cronicle ni Murakami I came across the recipe of stir fried beef with bell pepper, onion and bean sprout. I tried it that same day...SARAP!
Through the Zombie Glass (The White Rabbit Chronicles #2) by Gena Sholwalter....i love it! so much love for ALI BELL one of my fave heroine...Cole you may have broken her heart here but you did remorse well and Ali is such a fierce fighter and she refused to be a sobbing mess for Cole.... atta gurl! and Z.A. can eat her rotten ash good bye! This was an amazing sequel to Alice in Zombieland the right amount of romance, angst, drama, adventure, action and humor. I am looking forward to Queen of the Zombie Hearts.
“Fear of spiders is arachnophobia, and fear of tight spaces is claustrophobia, but fear of Ali Bell is just called logic.” ~ Through the Zombie Glass
