Currently I'm adding the books I've read, I own, and I want on the Catalog but it might take some time, but I'm sure I'd enjoy doing it. I hope to be active in the discussions around here.

Well, where to begin?! I think for SF, I can recommend Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. It's fast paced, the characters have great depth, and it has a pretty cool storyline that would introduce you to how SF authors approach questions about morality, politics, stigmas, and cool tech toys. If you get hooked, there are other Ender novels after this or you can move on to authors like Isaac Asimov and his Foundation and Robot series. But once you begin collecting sci fi books, you begin to distinguish that it's not the space battles or advances in biotechnology that would get you hooked - it's the questions about what it is to be human and humanity in general that would get you thinking.
Also, I wanted you to start with Ender because the movie will be coming out soon. If you would ever like the book, that would really get you excited.
