Rock Bottom (Tristan & Danika #2) by R.K. Lilley Genre : Adult Contemporary Romance Contains graphic sexual contents, drugs Rate : 3/5 It's been quite some time since i have read the first book and i decided to pick this one up to continue the series. This one was such a hot mess...well the steady decline of the relationship of Tristan and Danika was a hot mess. I find myself getting annoyed and pissed off by Tristan and his vices which was the ultimate downfall of their relationship. I just feel bad for Danila because she went through major traumatic loss due to the consequences of Tristan's action. This one did not made me feel good and the angst were just exhausting.
Lovely Trigger (Tristan and Danika #3) Rate : 3.9/5 This is the conclusion of their story. It took about 6 years after they both broke up and thankfully Tristan was in a better place than he was before where he left off in the last book. And now he is working hard to get back in Danika's life coz really where else is this epic love gonna go? There were some scenes here that i was not impressed with but that epilogue made up for some of the higher rates than 3.
This Series by J.B. McGee Genre : Adult contemporary romance
Broken (This #1) Rate: 2/5 It was okay but i was not really feeling the female protagonist Gabby, coz she has hang ups about her failed first love romance and the betrayal still effects her greatly. She is cautious but to the point of being emotionally unavailable. Then there is Bradley older and successful but such a player. There was obvious attraction between them but Gabby was spooked and run away. I end up getting annoyed with Gabby the whole time that I didn't feel so invested with their romance. But still i decided to continue coz this wasn't a thick book and was a fast read for me.
Mending (This #2) Rate: 3/5 Much better than the first book. Bradley proved to be a better man despite his past is coming back to bite him in the ass and almost cost him his relationship with Gabby..who did another runner when confronted with another possible betrayal. Seriously her level of maturity was showing for a freshman college student. There were people from both their past who are putting obstacles in their blooming romance but it didn't deter Bradley to pop up the question in the end.
Forgiven (This #3) Rate : 3.9/5 Again Bradley was stellar in this book. I admire how dedicated he was in showing his love for Gabby who still have some insecurities. And even when Bradley has to make difficult decisions in a rather difficult situation I still approve of what he did in the end to show emotional support to the maybe mother of his possible child and really Gabby was being whiny that he wasn't there for him when she needed him too. More family drama unfolds and eventually there were issues that were resolved and past sins forgiven.
Monster In His Eyes #1 by J.M. Darhower Genre : Dark, erotic, contemporary romance, suspense/thriller Contains graphic sexual content and violence. Rate : 3/5 This could have been a better reading experience for me if the female protagonist wasn't painted as someone who is too young and naive and occasionally dumb. Karissa is a freshman college student who fell for a much older worldly and perhaps a dangerous man twice her age in fact - Ignazio Vitale is a compelling man and i sense from the beginning that Karissa had no chance at all the moment he set out to pursue her despite telling her a couple of times that he is not a good man and no matter how much their attraction are to each other he has dark secret motives. I was not shock of the big revelation in this book coz I was familiar with it when i first read another series before who have similar story line. I even guess it right the first time half way through the book. This is no prince charming rescuing a helpless princess. This is being in love with the one person who she shouldn't fall for but it was too late.
The mysticism of Louisiana serves as the background of this love story. For this is purely a love story but fraught with danger, betrayal, doubt and love that endures which, in the end, broke my heart. They went through shit! Goddamit! Then, nooooooooooooo...
Lovely Vicious series by Sara Wolf Genre : YA, romance, mystery, drama
Lovely Vicious #1 Rate : 2.5/5 The book cover was intriguing and i was hoping it would be more than the usual high school drama. I was a bit disappointed that the MCs are enjoying too much in sabotaging each other by trading insult upon insult. They both have a dark and trouble past and really they are attracted to each other. They just refuse to give in to that attraction at first till something really bad happen and the Ice Prince of the school is melting his icy guard down. Although Isis verbal diarrhea can be hilarious most of the time and she can be so creative too. Despite this mindless back and forth war bet. Isis and Jack, i can't seem to help myself to see where this wrecking ball will go.
Savage Delight #2 Rate : 3/5 I actually end liking this one much better. A few more revelations and the sarcastic humor never ends. But that ending was just wacko! I mean that Sophia girl was just abiding her time to like end it all gezz and after all that Jack has done for her to make her get better. Seriously characters here can be really vicious and ruthless. But still i am interested to see how this end.
Locked #1 by Eva Morgan Genre : YA, suspense, mystery, romance Rate : 5/5
GAWD! I LOVE THIS ONE! this was based on the famous literary characters Sherlock Holmes and Irine Adler. But this one is set in present time in a high school setting. Both characters will draw you in and young Sherlock was just as fascinating and endearing. That ending though was heart breaking and can't wait for the next installment.
Killer Instinct by S.E. Green Genre : YA, suspense mystery thriller Rate : 3.5/5
There are some disturbing parts in this book but then it should be expected. I do find the MC character fascinating for Laney is not a normal teenager. She is a genius, independent, confident young girl but she has dark "urges" that is hidden behind her stoic facade. There are certain parts of her confidence that i like but other times i can't connect to her character. She loves morbids stuff especially obsessed about serial killers and doing the killing itself. That revelation in the end though of who the real killer was really threw me off coz i wasn't expecting that. There were too many random characters and scenes here and there that didn't make sense to me, but perhaps the author was trying to put there in order to misled the reader of who could be the killer be.
