Oh, I've always been thinking about whether or not to start The Wheel of Time Series because it has so many books and each one is so thick! But I know it's supposed to be really good! I heard that the latest books in the series "The Gathering Storm" is not by Jordan but completed by Brandon Sanderson, a fantasy author and long-time fan of Jordan. Have you read any of his books? Did you think they were they at par with Jordan's?

It is really good!! And you are correct that the last three books (Gathering Storm. Towers of Midnight, and Memories of Light) are completed by Sanderson. He definitely has a different style of pacing in his narration than Jordan, whereas Jordan would really go into details regarding descriptions Sanderson's style tend to be more "action" oriented. I think Jordan definitely was influenced by Tolkien in his writing style. Nevertheless, Sanderson has done a splendid job in continuing the series. :D

I quit at Book 9 in 2005 as there didn't seem to be an ending in sight back then. Heard Universal got the rights for the franchise and was set to make a movie based on "The Eye of the World" sometime 2008. Dunno what happened since then. There's an IMDB listing that sets a tentative release date of 2013 (used to be 2011 years ago). This is a very long series requiring a lot of time and patience to read.

But i may pick it up again if Sanderson's style is indeed more action-oriented. I got tired of Jordan's excessive obsession of describing characters' mannerisms and facial expressions.

I definitely enjoy Sanderson's style more than Jordan's. Its more brisk and action oriented. I think you need that if you've been chosen to end Jordan's epic.

You still have 7 more books to read if you want to complete it. Sayang naman you stopped. Its really a good series. Tell you what. If you decide to finish it, I can give you the last 6-7 books if I can find them, though they are not in the greatest of conditions. Just let me know.
