Anne Rice. sabi nga nila, first love never dies. ayii~
kaso, minsan masyadong depressing at seryoso ang books ni Anne Rice, so my other favorite author is Terry Pratchett. whenever life looks like something nasty that came out of an orifice, binabasa ko ang Discworld series, and my life becomes rainbow-colored again
Iba talaga ang sense of humor ni Terry Pratchett. he often writes about truths in life, but he presents them in a silly way.
my favorite Terry Pratchett character is Death dahil masaya siya. here's an example of a conversation with him:
“I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.”
Terry Pratchett isn't bound by stereotypes; he makes fun of them
Another Death scene (when he pretended to be a human named Bill Door and a new Death was going to eliminate him):
IT IS NOT YET MIDNIGHT?
'I shouldn't think it's more than a quarter past eleven.'
THEN WE HAVE THREE-QUARTERS OF AN HOUR
'How can you be sure?'
BECAUSE OF DRAMA, MISS FLITWORTH.. THE KIND OF DEATH WHO POSES AGAINST THE SKYLINE AND GETS LIT UP BY LIGHTNING FLASHES, said Bill Door, disapprovingly, DOESN'T TURN UP AT FIVE-AND-TWENTY PAST ELEVEN IF HE CAN POSSIBLY TURN UP AT MIDNIGHT.
Ok, last na 'to. Here's a wonderful character description by Terry Pratchett:
“Mister Teatime had a truly brilliant mind, but it was brilliant like a fractured mirror, all marvellous facets and rainbows but, ultimately, also something that was broken.”
