To realize one's destiny is a person's only real obligation. All things are one, and, when you want something, all the universe conspires to help you achieve it.

Hi Wanda, how inspiring! Here's mine:

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.

Hi Honeybee,
Nice quote! Here's mine:

"The lesson here is very simple. But it is striking how often it is overlooked. We are so caught in the myths of the best and the brightest and the self-made that we think outliers spring naturally from the earth....To build a better world we need to replace the patchwork of lucky breaks and arbitrary advantages that today determine success - the fortunate birth dates and the happy accidents of history - with a society that provides opportunites for all. "
— Malcolm Gladwell in The Outliers

If pain must come, may it come quickly. Because I have a life to live, and I need to live it in the best way possible. If he has to make a choice, may he make it now. Then I will either wait for him or forget him.

Waiting is painful. Forgetting is painful. But not knowing which to do is the worst kind of suffering.

“You will begin to touch heaven, Jonathan, in the moment that you touch perfect speed. And that isn’t flying a thousand miles an hour, or a million, or flying at the speed of light. Because any number is a limit, and perfection doesn’t have limits. Perfect speed, my son, is being there.”

“To fly as fast as thought, to anywhere that is,” he said,”you must begin by knowing that you have already arrived…”

- Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach

Favorite Quotes from Books You've Read

Hi People, what's your favourite quotes from a novel you've read? Mine's from my favourite book, To Kill a Mockingbird:

"Mockingbirds don't do one thing but make music for us to enjoy... but sing their hearts out for us. That's why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird." - Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird

But of course others come to mind:

"When someone sees the same people every day, they wind up becoming part of that person's life. And then they want the person to change. If someone isn't what others want them to be, the others become angry. Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should lead their lives, but none about his or her own. - from The Alchemist (there are other memorable quotes from that great novel by Paulo Coelho of course)

"And now I also see what part of me is Chinese. It is so obvious. It is my family. It is in our blood."
    - Amy Tan, The Joy Luck Club, Ch. 16

If you were to say to the grown-ups: “I saw a beautiful house made of rosy brick, with geraniums in the windows and doves on the roof,” they would not be able to get an idea of that house at all. You have have to say to them: “I saw a house that cost $20,000.” Then they would exclaim: “Oh, what a pretty house that is!” - The Little Prince

Please share yours :D
